So you have read one of our reviews and rushed off and bought your karaoke machine. You are very excited and can’t wait to start. But you need some music. You can use your own CD’s or import MP3 tracks or even playlists from your devices. Unfortunately, it won’t be quite the same.
Doing that will not provide you with any lyrics or visuals. And of course, you will hear the original singer on the song. So, let us introduce you to CD-G. Or perhaps we should say Karaoke CD-G. Or even better in full, Compact Discs plus Graphics.
CD-G’s have very good soundtracks with graphics that are embedded in the song. They don’t have videos, but they do include audio effects, lyrics, and images. What you need are the best karaoke CDs with vocals and lyrics.
However, you will not be able to see any visuals unless you have a CD-G Karaoke player. And then if it hasn’t got a screen, you need to connect to a TV or monitor. Machines that haven’t got this facility will still play the discs, but you will only hear the sound. There will be no visuals.
Confused? Don’t be. It is quite straightforward as you’ll find out on our journey to find the Best Karaoke CDs for you…

Top 8 Best Karaoke CDs For The Money 2020 Reviews
1 Party Tyme Country Mega Pack 128-Song Mega Pack
This a 128 song, eight cd party pack especially prepared for Karaoke. It was first released in 2009 on Sybersound records. The discs cover a wide range of material from very early country-folk music, what the purists call ‘real’ country. By that we mean perhaps more country and western, grand old opry country music. It ends on the last disc with more modern country songs featuring Shania Twain and Linda Rondstadt.
The good thing about this series of CDs is that they cover a wide range of country styles. They will, therefore, appeal to many more people than if they had limited the styles.
Not all well known…
Of course, there will be some tracks on there that some people will never have heard of. That is also a good thing. Nothing wrong with being introduced to new songs and artists. Being a CD-G, it contains the lyrics and a few graphics along the way.
One thing we always mention with compilation albums like this is that they try to cater to a wide audience. That is the right thing to do. This isn’t supposed to be a concert by your favorite artist. You must always, therefore, expect something different.
Do you like a bit of country?
This particular pack of CD’s is aimed at a certain market. That market will not appeal to everyone. Those that do not like US country music need to look elsewhere. Those that lap it up will like these CDs.
For eight CDs and 128 tracks, they are great value at the price point. For karaoke CDs with vocals and lyrics, they do very well. Now, where were we…”Oh poor pitiful me, oh poor pitiful me…”
- Great variety of US country music.
- Super price point.
- Won’t be too everyone’s taste.
2 Party Tyme Classic Rock 6-Pack 96-Song Party Pack
No party with a Karaoke night is complete without a large helping of some rock music. The trick is getting the balance right. People like their music different. We all have different tastes, of course, no bad thing. But to put a karaoke CD together with something for everyone is not that easy.
This 96 song six-disc collection has certainly had a very good attempt. There are some soft rock tracks, some ballads, and some harder stuff. There is even what is best described as ‘soft metal.’ And of course, you cannot help but feel the nostalgia with one or two tearjerkers from the past.
Not the original music, of course. Copyright infringement prevents that, but the musicians they have used to do a decent job.
A superb selection…
There are too many tracks to mention some of our personal favorites. There are some on every disc. And as you can scan down the tracklist, it is like you may have chosen half of them yourself.
First released in 2017, it is becoming a karaoke favorite and of course, includes some nice graphics and the on-screen lyrics.
Something is missing?
Some karaoke CD’s are aimed at a certain market and musical genre. This selection covers just about every major artist you can think of. There is one missing, though, conspicuous by its absence. When you put a compilation album together for karaoke, you include nothing from the best band the world has ever seen. Nothing by the Beatles – very strange! They must have had their reasons.
At the price point, a great buy and guaranteed to get any party moving. For karaoke CDs with vocals and lyrics, they most of the boxes. All this must make it one of the Best Karaoke CDs currently available.
- Great compilation of tracks with good variety.
- Superb price.
- Nothing from the Beatles has got to be negative for a party.
3 All Hits Super Pack CDG Discs 395 Songs
Another stack of big hits all on a series of CDs. And this collection goes a stage further in its cross-section of musical styles.
You need to be ready for anything if you are a karaoke DJ. If you are hosting a function or party, you could be asked for anything. Your guests are unlikely to all be admirers of the same genre of music.
Some real classics…
This selection covers just about everything. 395 songs packed into 26 discs and including some real classics.
This is a typical CD +G package and includes a few graphics and the lyrics displayed on the screen. The packaging is what you might call quite basic; each CD is provided in a paper sleeve, which does make them a little vulnerable to damage. I suppose there are 26 of them, so packaging could be a large expense. At the price point, it is clearly not a viable option.
So having decided to take good care of the CD’s you have a wealth of material. Just about everything from Frank Sinatra to Black Sabbath. That is a wide genre gap. The songs it must be said are not performed by any of the original artists. They are cover versions of the originals but quite well done.
As far as we can tell, there are no published song lists for these CD’s so that may be a problem. However, there is a link that takes you to the song list by artist and by title.
Good value for money if it is done on a budget, but guaranteed to be a success at a function. One of the Best Karaoke CDs on the market.
- A lot of material provided at a great price.
- Covers a wide range of tastes.
- Rather a weak packaging and information about the lists.
4 Party Tyme Super Hits 23 – Best Karaoke CD for Tweens
Not all karaoke audiences are the same. It is true that it seems that many people want to sing older, classic songs. Everyone knows them, and they are familiar with them themselves. But it is not always the case. Sometimes you are going to get someone who wants to try something a bit more recent. Maybe they see themselves as a bit of a Taylor Swift or an Ariana Grande?
When that happens, they aren’t going to be interested in Bing Crosby or Black Sabbath.
Mixed for Karaoke…
This CD will be the one that gets you out of trouble — ten singles from previous years by well-known artists. The backing tracks are not the original ones, of course, that isn’t allowed. But the musicians they have brought in do a decent job.
These arrangements go a stage further than just replicating the original song. These have been remixed to suit karaoke. They are what is know as the ‘karaoke mix.’
First released in 2015, this CD +G features 16 number 1 hit songs. On-screen lyrics are included, of course. And as a nice added extra, there is also a booklet including lyrics.
Certain to be a winner at any function…
This CD+G gives the Karaoke DJ a few extra strings to their bow. If you are working regularly with younger people, then it is a must-have in your library. The classic songs are fine and very necessary, but it will help to come up to date a little bit. The best karaoke cd for tweens? Could be.
One word of warning, though. Some of the lyrics on the songs might need a bit of parental censoring. For public performance, maybe a list of songs that include words that are not suitable might be a good idea. Your decision?
Nice competitive price.
- Expands a karaoke DJ library with more recent material.
- Cost-effective price for 16 hit songs.
- It does include lyrics some may find offensive.
5 Billboard Top 40 Vol. 5 G 40+40-Song Party Pack
For a karaoke party to go well and for people to get up and sing, there are a few things you need. Good equipment that is adequate for the venue is one of course. Decent microphones are another. But you can have all of that, and it still won’t work unless the music is right. You need to gauge your audience and consider what they are going to like. Sometimes it can only be done by trial and error.
Therefore having a range of styles and genres and even artists is always a good idea. There is nothing worse for a karaoke DJ to see a performer want to sing, but you have nothing suitable.
This boxed set will help solve that problem…
It features Billboard hits from four decades of great music The 60s through to the 90s produces some of the great songs and great artists we have ever known. Most of them are in this set.
It has 80 tracks, and 40 of the songs come without the lead vocal. This is a great way to get the party started playing the songs first. Warms the audience up a bit.
They aren’t by the original artists, of course, but as cover versions, they are quite good. First released in 2016, there are four discs. And all have lyrics that can be displayed.
If you need a set of CD+Gs that have some hugely popular songs on them, this could be it. It has the best of both worlds, Karaoke CDs with vocals and lyrics. It must be considered as one of the Best Karaoke CDs.
- Great selection of songs.
- Cost-effective price.
- Packaging a bit flimsy
6 Party Tyme Country Hits 20
Party Tyme is one of the most popular of all the CD+G’s produced for the karaoke market. The reason for their popularity is that they make sure that they produce what people want. Knowing that is not always easy, so a little bit of research is required.
They can’t, of course, predict who is going to be at a given venue. Therefore they produce a wide range of CD+Gs covering every possible genre and style. They even produce CDs that concentrate on a particular artist. They, therefore, cover the market far and wide.
Do you want to go to a venue as a Karaoke DJ confident that your music is adequate?
Then you probably need some of the products that Party Tyme offers. If you were to ask the question who makes the best karaoke CDs, then the answer might be Party Tyme.
This offering is a selection of Country hits and features 16 big Country songs. First released in 2017, it has become a firm favorite with many working Karaoke DJs. It is a fully operational CD+G with on-screen lyrics. It is also provided as part of the package, lyric books.
Time for some line dancing…
The tracks are not by the original artists, of course, copyright forbids that, but as covers, the quality is quite good. They come in a plastic covering to ensure the CD is protected against damage.
Whether you are a Country fan or not, this is a CD+G you ought to have in your playlists. The songs are well-loved by Country audiences and are sure to be popular.
Attractive, cost-effective price point and good value for money.
- Well-produced CD+G of popular Country songs.
- Cost-effective addition to a Karaoke DJs library.
- Only 16 songs included.
7 90s Karaoke
In the eyes of some people, the 90s were a defining period in music. Some of the best artists around produced some of their best work in that period. It is, therefore, an important era to be covered by the Karaoke DJ. Customers are almost certain to ask for some of the material on this set of CD+Gs.
One of the great things about this selection is that they have recognized the contributions from a variety of genres. Of course, you would expect to find music in the style of Whitney Houston and Britney Spears. You might also hope that Celine Dion and Cher would be there. They are. But then there are some great additions. Bryan Adams, Elton John, Oasis, and their fierce rivals Blur are in there as well.
Quite a surprise…
Perhaps the biggest surprise to us was Tubthumping by Chumbawamba. Doesn’t that have to be one of the great Karaoke songs? Not by the original artists, of course, but very good cover versions made especially for karaoke.
All bases are covered. It was a period in music which saw established artists continue to make great music. It also saw some New Kids on the Block say move over, we’re here.
90’s all the way!
First released in 2017, it has 60 tracks in a three CD+G set. Lyrics, of course, are included on-screen. This set of songs is a must for any Karaoke DJ wanting to include as much as possible. If you want the 90s? Here it is. For people who love that era, this is one of the Best Karaoke CDs around. For karaoke CDs with vocals and lyrics, it is a great buy.
- Great selection of 90s music.
- Excellent price point.
- At this price and with this amount of content, none really.
8 Disney’s Karaoke Series: Frozen
You have filled up your karaoke library with some of the greatest tracks. Music from the last 60 years. There is just one more area to address. The kids. You cannot escape this one, and kids love to sing. We don’t expect they will know all the words to a Black Sabbath track, so they need something they know.
With the very young ones, it probably starts and ends most of the time with Disney. And especially if there is a movie that is current or eternally popular.
All the hits…
The movie Frozen came out in 2013, but the music is still as popular as it was then. All the big songs are on it, including an Academy Award winner for the best original song. There are eight tracks with vocals and eight purely instrumental tracks.
This is more than just a kid’s karaoke session, though. It will appeal to families as well. This makes it eminently suitable for children’s parties and family gatherings where there are children. You might not be a pro-Karaoke DJ. You might just have fun with karaoke at home. If that is the case, then this CD+G is for you.
As close as possible…
It’s not the original artists performing, of course. It is harder with a soundtrack like this to get close to the original sounds. So if you are expecting an exact copy of the film soundtrack, you may be disappointed. If you accept that it’s people trying their best to allow you to sing with them, it will be fine.
Being a CD+G, the lyrics will show up on a TV screen or a built-in display on your machine. Kids will have a wonderful time with this one. At a function, a wedding maybe, also a good way to get the ball rolling.
The price point is set realistically, and for the kids, it is a great buy.
- Great for the kids.
- Good for home and family use.
- Sound production, not the best CD+G you will hear.

The Art Of Karaoke – Getting Them To Join In
When people are placed in circumstances in which they are familiar, they function easier. It applies to most things in life. The same will apply to start the ball rolling with karaoke. If people are familiar with the songs, they might be sitting down, but they start to join in. That is the moment. That is when the boldest will think I’m getting up to have a go. The others follow.
But What Triggers This Reaction?
Well, in a nutshell, it’s you and what you are doing. And perhaps more importantly, what you are doing it with. Your equipment, of course, is important. Good microphones, a few effects on the voice, nice sound. All important issues. But it won’t get them up and singing.
The thing that gets them up is the music. But more than the music, familiarity with the music. So familiar in fact that they start to sing along at their table or the bar. It is a very short step from that to getting them on the mic.
So What Music? Building Your Library
It is likely that there will be a wide range of musical tastes sitting before you. It won’t help if you can’t at least give them a little taste of what they like. People have their favorites, so when you build your library, you want to include as many potential genres as possible.
It is no good thinking I can’t stand Country music, won’t bother. There might be a lot there who don’t agree with you. Covering all tastes as far as you can isn’t really an option if you want people to have a great time.
This doesn’t apply, of course, if you are in a karaoke club dedicated to one genre. Then it’s just full throttle in that environment. Most venues, though, won’t be like that. Therefore a variety of music is vital.
It Is A Little Bit Of Trial And Error In The Early Days…
But if people come and say ‘have you got?’ and you haven’t make a note. Maybe you should have it.
Karaoke CD+G’s these days are plentiful. Usually, they cover just about everything, but the best ones are those that don’t tend to specialize. You will need a little bit of specializing. For instance, we looked at some Country only CDs and a Disney movie. They are important because they cater to a requirement.
Whether it’s your main thrust is up to you. They form a part of a wider genre issue. You need to include as much as possible.
I suppose we should be thankful that they are usually priced very competitively. Getting a wide-ranging decent library is not going to break the bank. You should be aware, though, that the quality will not be like the originals. They will be covers and obviously not as good as the originals. Get the best covers you can, of course, but don’t expect miracles.
Karaoke to those who have discovered it can be a load of fun. But who makes it fun? You do. Getting the Best Karaoke CDs is vital.
